I like the pretty and uncluttered cover. It's nice to see straight away that a boy is pictured in the dance class. The first person story-telling works well and Yara is bright, lively and friendly. Some young readers may feel jealous that Yara gets what she longs for, including full new ballet kit straight away. But there should be no requirement for every children's novel to focus on protagonists who are disadvantaged in some way. The children in the class are a great mix of backgrounds, interests and dance knowledge. The careful writing provides plenty of information for the reader who hopes to learn ballet without being too didactic.
