If you want a book that feels like your best friend, then read Ballet Besties! This was a real feel good story full of characters that were adorable and with situations in which they could come together and achieve better outcomes. I was pleased that it was illustrated throughout, I liked the black and white drawings and felt they complimented the narrative in a way in which it brought the story to life and with the advantage that it also makes it easy to find where you were up to with your reading! I really enjoyed that as someone not particularly interested or knowledgeable about ballet that I found out and even learnt a bit about ballet whilst reading this. The book is written by a principal from the Royal Ballet school and you get a good feel that the author has, alongside great knowledge, a definite love of ballet and this comes out within the story. I thought that having information at the end of the book which also included a glossary and diagrams for ballet positions was an excellent addition and it could encourage readers to refer back and perhaps find out more.
