This is the first book in a new series, that's bound to appeal to ballet fans. What's immediately noticeable from the cover though is that this book is not just for girls, as we have a boy practising at the barre too.
What's nice about this tale is that it's not all about the dancing. I was initially concerned that this was the case, as the early chapters are quite heavy the explanation of ballet moves, but the story soon warmed up into something much broader.
It's a tale about working together, friendship, never giving up but also realising that your passions can't take over your life to the exclusion of everything else.
Yara is the main character in this tale and, having just moved to the village, he immediately joins the local ballet school - it becomes the central pillar of her new life, so she's determined to save it when she learns it at danger of closing.
It all makes for a really heart warming story - perfect for junior school aged children.
