Here is a story with three brave young people as the main characters in the book.
First we meet Kayla who is a bit of an outsider due to her being the daughter of a criminal. She only has one friend in a very cruel world and that friend is her pet pangron who she flies around on. When her pet goes missing, she sets out to find it.
Then we meet Alethea who has taken over her dead father`s job as the local healer. She already knows a lot about alternative medicine and which plants can be used for which ailments. She is now looking for a cure for a mystery illness that is quickly spreading all over the island.
The third person we meet is Rustus who comes from a family of Atari warriors. He is now expected to pass his test to become a warrior himself. Rustus is not popular amongst his family because his mother went missing soon after he was born.
