I've read many an adventure story to the children in my primary school year 4 (age 8+9) classes over the years. Usually this means trying to convince the girls that it will be something they will enjoy but genuinely with this one, despite the lack of pink and cute, ditsy characters they loved the story and seemed fully invested from the start!

The three main characters were easy to relate to and we enjoyed likening them to children we knew in the class /yeargroup. They were your typical friends, who would generally followed the rules but wouldn't rule out getting into some kind of mischief. This screamed Famous Five to me, but the adventures and happenings were definitely more lively and engaging than any of the stories I'd read at this age.

The boys pointed out that there were a lot of similarities with the Beast Quest series and that maybe the author should have thought of a better series title, however they also agreed that if they were searching for a book, they would probably have chosen this one because of that reason and the fact that just the cover and series title alone reminded them of a series they know and love. Good luck to this author! We already have a class here that are looking out for your other titles!
