I must say I was drawn by the vibrant front cover artwork into reading this story and the cover truly matches the contents. It is well written, has a intriguing and fast paced plot, plus there is some great world building and character development. I was a bit disappointed by how it was ended, until I turned the page and realized there is already a sequel in progress.
I thought all the characters were well-rounded and worked well together, despite all being so different. They really complimented each other and helped make the story stand out. I think younger readers will love this story and I think the map illustrations and bestiary included at the back were a nice touch and will help give the book a broader appeal. It actually gave me C. S. Lewis and "The Chronicles of Narnia" vibes a little bit so I will definitely be interested to see how this story progresses.
