Absolutely loved at the back of the book, the illustrations and descriptions of the beasts that are strewn across this world that has been created by Jess French. The story covers complexities of society’s, politics and devious acts that create divides between social groups. I respect the author for managing to coach elements of unlikely friendships, the pressures of society and family expectations and explaining the importance of nature and its ability to cure diseases. In this adventure three young people, with very different agendas are united and bond and find themselves actually fighting a battle that commonly unites them. The disease the scourge, is discovered to be an experiment gone wrong and makes you wonder if this helps youngsters understand the recent pandemic and its consequences. Wonderfully written, well paced and full of great ideas that are relatable to day to day learning. Top marks from me
