I am in love with the cover, it looks amazing and would certainly have drawn me in if I had seen it on a bookshelf. The blurb also sells the books really well, giving enough information as to draw the reader in, but not so much as to spoil the story.

I am intrigued by the first look, since there is the perspective from the main antagonist (which was done with great effect) as the starting point you know exactly what you are getting into. The atmosphere and tension of the first scene is mirrored throughout the rest of the chapters, drip feeding us what is going on whilst still holding our attention. The main character, Naomi has a unique take on what is going on, and with her as our lead we will be going into the remainder of the story just as blind (pun intended) as she is. I think both she and Max make wonderful characters and I cannot wait to see how their story unfolds. The antagonist is also going to be interesting read, and we already know him to be suitably chilling and perhaps giving off some Bates vibes with that intro.

The only slight issue I have with the first look is the amount of “difficult topics” that are introduced in the first few pages. It is hard hitting and seems to be the sort of book that will stay with you long after you put it down.
