A book of two halves

This starts out as a bit of a plodding police procedural, but the second half picks up the pace and....well goes a bit wild with it, throwing in coincidences and plot twists all over the place. If you suspend disbelief it's a decent enough thriller.

The writing can be a little clunky, and characters are one-dimensional....the baddies may as well have pantomine moustaches to twirl and capes to fling around as the enter a room, and the goodies are just a bit dull....there's no nuance or layers to anyone in this book....and although its USP is a blind murder witness (who has been blind since birth) that too is played out at a basic level, with little depth....there's little focus on her other senses which would have made for a more satisfying and unique read.
