The story didn't draw me in as much as the cover did

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But this cover really drew me in with the bright colours & lovely different design. However once I started reading the story didn't hook me as much as I thought it would. I love the title of this book and think it is going to be a great story. Immediately you are introduced to a range of new characters and beings which, if you are into fantasy and science fiction novels is great. However, this isn't my genre. With science fiction / fantasy novels I either do not read them at all or they take me at least a quarter of the book to truly get into the storyline, understand the characters and the concept. I reckon this is the case for this book. If I were to read more of it there would be a small chance I could have gotten into the story a bit more but unfortunately the amount I read wasn't enough to do that. I will leave this story for the true science fiction fans to appreciate
