What a bizarre book this was!
I felt like I had traveled to the Bermuda Triangle, outer space and then back home!
Duendes, strange life forms, not quite human but not quite animal, in fact nothing that has ever been seen before. They do not speak but they communicate through the mind, highlighting all your insecurities and flaws, making you want to do unspeakable things. They live in an under water world but come up to the surface to do.....well, who knows what they do, nothing positive it would seem.
This book is about a policeman, Ben, who has been tasked to go to Submundo Delta, a strange little village/world, to stop the villagers from killing the Duendes. What he discovers there is more than he bargained for and he soon becomes enchanted by these creatures.
An interesting read, a little out there at times, definitely questions humanity and it's existence! What I want to know is, how can you travel somewhere and have no recollection of how you got there?!
