Whilst the beautiful cover and intriguing name initially pulled me in, I was apprehensive as I have not read many sci-fi books before. I found this book well written but ultimately hard to get into, as there were too many names and ideas for me to remember. I can absolutely see why people might love this book, but it’s just not my cup of tea. That being said, if I read this book after reading some more, better known sci-fi books (I have read Dune but didn’t like that either) I might have enjoyed it better. I also believe that the confusion I felt whilst reading this book didn’t allow me to take it for what it is: a surreal take on the human psyche. It was too slow, and I was glad when I finished the book, I would not recommend this to my friends. It feels like a slight waste of my time - and I don’t like to say that about any books because even a ‘bad’ book is a learning experience.
