What would you be like if you knew that you would not remember, that you could do and be anything you wanted. Knowing that you would have no regrets as you would have no memory. That's a large part of this book, the main character a policeman from london is sent to stop the killing of humanish animals in the zona. But first you must pass the ring of forgetfulness as you wont remember what you did in your time here. At first the notepad of the time in this section haunt the policeman, not knowing what he did whether he was evil or remained true to his believed principles. Through the book you experience his perception of right and wrong alter and his commitment to his job fade. As these creature promote a sort of self hatred bring to light emotions you dont want to feel. So much so a rage takes over the local inhabitants and they kill them. I honestly found this to be an intriguing story into the unknown and human psyche. I would very much recommend this book. I only gave it 4 stars as I felt it could have expanded itself a bit more and the culture of those native to this island. That being said it was all round a gripping read!
