I found this to be a very peculiar book. It is clearly a fantasy (creatures that may be animal but then again may grow from trees, an area of land that you can't pass through without forgetting everything, pink and purple jungle plants...) but it doesn't feel like one. The characters and their motivations are quite believable and I found myself accepting all the strangeness as I progressed through the plot. Without wishing to give away too much information, I found that my view of the main character changed significantly during the book as the author doled out little extra snippets of information, and that made it a much stronger novel in my opinion. I awarded this book three stars, but in reality it is more like three and a half. I would have contemplated four, except that I found the end a little unsatisfactory. If you feel like reading something completely weird and unsettling, give this a try.
