This isn't the sort of book I often find myself reading, and when a friend asked me to explain it I really struggled.

It isn't full of action or climax, nor does it have a clear plot direction for lots of the book.

But I still found myself really enjoying this book. The premise is brilliant, a land you can only reach by forgetting your journey( a bit bermuda Triagle-esque )populated by strange creatures and mind-influencing nature.

Yet you have a complete contrast with the actual character building and background to the story, which all read as believable people and semi-believable history.

It's this mish-mash of realism and fantasy that I found quite compelling, although I can see how it may be off-putting to some people.

That being said the actual story in the traditional sense is a tad lacking, and whilst I loved the world of the Sub-Mundo Delta it is slightly marred by the lack of event points. Also, whilst I expect it to be a deliberate choice of the author to portray it this way the lack of understanding and investigation shown by the main character with the duendes did leave me a little confused at times.

So odd and different- enjoyed reading it, but I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea.
