The first thing that struck me reading this extract is the distinctness of the female voices that consistently shine through in Shamsie's work. I am always on the lookout for stories about authentic and deep female friendships. This book promises that and so much more in a powerful story that will test Zahra and Maryam's friendship in every way. I can't wait to see where the story takes us.
