This book shows how friendships can begin across the social divide. Two fourteen year old schoolgirls come from different backgrounds in Pakistan, they get on well. The story begins at the start of a new school year when Maryam has been in London for the summer whilst Zahra has been at home, differences between them are starting to show as Maryam's parents now have security around their home. It is the start of unrest in Pakistan. This is the setting to the rest of their lives what will happen over the course of the next years?
