I really enjoyed this book, it is a largely subtle novel and the story progresses gently with gradual disclosures. The story is about about friendship, loyalty, and power. the book is very readable and thought provoking. I love the development of the two main characters. The girls have a very strong friendship, they come from different backgrounds but still they share their hopes for their futures. However the story never really goes anywhere and fails to generates any suspense. It was more of a thought-provoking read, with moments of beauty found in the depiction of friendship. The author captures dialogue and tension really well but I was left wanting more from the story. The characters are deeply unsympathetic and i felt that it didn't quite hit the emotional climax that was needed. A story of Loyalty and revenge and had makings of a powerful novel.
