This is a beautifully written book about friendship and loyalty between friends. However it’s more of a thought provoking book than an exciting novel. The story begins when the two main characters are about 15 years old and then jumps to 15 years latter and how their teenage years affected their future. I really enjoyed this book, it is a largely subtle novel and the story progresses gently with gradual disclosures.
Certain things that happened when the girls were young affected their future in an unexpected way. The author has a gift for writing dialogue but didn’t seem to create a very exciting story line. The book has the makings of a powerful novel but I’m afraid it left me wanting more
The first half of the book following the girls in their earl years seem better written than the second half which seems rather rushed. I haven’t read any of the author’s other books so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
