A book that looks at a long lasting friendship. It starts in 1988 with two 14 year old teenagers, Maryam who is from an affluent family of professionals and Zahra who is from a working class background. They live in very strict government controlled Pakistan, until that is he is killed in an air crash. Then all seems to change when a female political candidate takes over. Zahra just wants to grow up and get to university so she can leave the country, we’re as maryam is been raised to take over the family’s company. Then we go to the second half of the book which is in 2019 we’re we see that they have both achieved there goals and are successful professional women themselves with happy home lives. A great book telling the story of friendship through time, to read both the past and present story is really wonderful.
