In 1988 , two fourteen-year-old girls have been friends for over ten years and are bonding over George Michael. As the world changes around them, there are more opportunities and they decide to attend a party spontaneously, in which something goes wrong. The narrative jumps between 1988 and modern day London in which the 2 women are still linked but have different ideas. It is about to be tested, where it has always been strong.

I didn't actually enjoy this book due to the time hopping between 1988 and present day. I found the story didn't flow very well because of this time hopping. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, which I found disappointing.

I have never read any of Kamila Shamsie's work so may well read other books to understand if her other work is similar to this. Whilst it was great this was about female friends, one that doesn't always feature as well written as this, it is a bit of a cliche that it breaks.
