This sounded so full of promise...a coming of age fiction with enough twists and borderline criminal activity to keep someone older than the girls on the edge of their seat but sadly I felt the story tapered off and got really dull about a third of the way in and by half way I decided to cut my losses and his accept that the book was not in fact for me, something which I've only ever done maybe twice before ever.

Zahra and Maryam were not at all relatable but that didn't seem to matter. I had high hopes of thrills and mischief to keep me hooked, but it soon became apparent that neither of those things would happen in the story. I realised that in some cultures, the rules and norms around sex, courting and even communication between male and female are very different but getting just over half way and the biggest drama being a girl getting a lift home from a boy.... who then dropped her home safely and didn't touch her at all despite being led to believe otherwise (literally his driver gave the one girl a 'look' that made her feel uncomfortable, that was it). I felt robbed of a good story and sad at the same time that I just couldn't finish the book
