This is a book about loss, love, twins, family and coping with grief and importantly a fathers love for his daughters and how he copes with his own grief whilst supporting them through theirs.

After the death of Pippa, her husband Alfie struggles to look after his twin daughters Sylvia and Cassia whilst coping with his own grief. After the girls tell him that they have seen Black Mamba in their room each night, Alfie speaks to his sister in law Julia who is a psychotherapist and asks her for help on how help them.

Combining forces Alfie and Julia work together to remove the threat of the imaginary friend Black Mamba who is encouraging their bad behaviour and taking control over them, from the girls lives in the hope that they can overcome their personal grief and move on.

The book was written from the perspective of both Alfie and then Julia, looking at how their different view points control the story.

As a mum of twin girls myself I was interested in the relationship between them.

This was a good first novel
