Couldn't quite work it out..
I was really looking forward to reading Black Mamba after the first look and having not read many fictional horror books, this is something I've wanted to explore further. I also really liked the front cover of the book, giving the reader an instant chilling feeling!
The premise of the story sounded quite unique in terms of Black Mamba being able to switch forms, although I suppose the idea of a haunting/possession etc. is quite unoriginal. I was hooked by the first few chapters, and learning more about the relationship between Alfie, Pippa and their family; however, as the book went on, I seemed to get more and more confused, and by the end I still hadn't really worked out what was going on in Hart House. I thought it was quite predictable of Alfie to get 'possessed' by the Black Mamba, but then quite how the twin girls were involved with everything is still unclear to me.
Overall, worth a read, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to recommend. Really well written though, especially for a first book from the author!
