This book tells the story of two twins in the months following the death of their mother, when they begin to see 'black mamba'. The plot follows their father and aunt as they try to find the cause of this increasingly sinister vision, and the reader is guessing right to the end as to whether black mamba is a psychological coping mechanism, or a demon or something of that nature.
This book feels like a horror film in how it is written. The writing styles sweeps you up and creates an incredibly creepy atmosphere at times without being over the top or too obvious. The writing is in now way pretentious but not is it basic, it suits the style of book perfectly.
I am not one to read horrors normally as whilst I find them enjoyable I like books that are character driven. Despite this I really enjoyed this book and found myself get goosebumps at times along the way.
If you are a fan of a decent horror and like a bit of a scare but don't expect it to be too in your face then I would recommend this as a relatively short and easy but decent read.
