From the very first page, I was drawn to the book; practically pulled into that peculiar, tenebrous, dimension..
Alfie, and his little girls were immediately interesting, and portrayed strong characters from the beginning, and throughout the book.

The physical book itself is aesthetically pleasing : sleek and monochromatic; it easily fit on my shelf after I had finished with it.
Although, beneath the sleeve, the book is a little underwhelming, but the binding is brilliant!

The book is dual perspective, at points, but primarily follows Alfie, a bereaved father of two, left, after his wife passed away in a tragic accident.
The plot twists, and Chinese-box writing structure, really took my by surprise, and the romance warmed my heart.

I absolutely reccomend this novel, it has a message that few books manage to convey without sounding clichéd:
The darkness will always get to you.
