Black Mamba quickly sucks you into it's world and demands you listen. The simple cover meant I didn't mind being seen in public with it, and the size of the text inside was perfect for (perhaps badly timed) late night reading and my tired eyes.
I enjoyed the characters having easily pronounced names as it meant I could concentrate on the story and not be distracted by my own appalling pronunciation skills.
The narrator gives you two sides to the story which is great as it helped me understand better, split up the chapters a bit if I needed to pause in reading, and added more mystery to things I might have missed.
Everytime I thought I'd worked out the ending everything changed so this book definitely kept me on my toes, and throughout I felt unsettled by the whole thing which adds so much to the story. When I did suddenly reach the end I was left wanting more. I need more!
