This book is a whirlwind!

I usually love horrors only on screen. Recently I watched The Black Phone and thought it was brilliant. But this book is something else...

A domestic horror, The Black Mamba observes a father with twin daughters who can 'see' a man in their room. They both can see him, their visions of him are identical and only getting more invasive. They saw him nine months after 'the accident' which took away their mother. Their father seeks support from the children's aunt, Julia who has her own troubles.

This book was everything I'd hoped. I was invested- I always say when children are involved, my thoughts don't rest. I liked that while reading the book, it became clear that none of the characters had any idea of the deeper, sinister 'being' that had come into the family's life. This made it more interesting than simple explanations like the house was haunted.

This is the book to pick if you want to read a horror that almost becomes too real.
