I find trafficking and mafia stories so interesting and this is a book I'd love to sink my teeth into. Affi seems like a sweet girl, who was trafficked at the age of 12 by the Albanian mafia - smuggling drugs. Affi goes on a run one morning and sees a mysterious man on top of a hill who she evidently recognises, possibly from being used as a drug mule from Albania. She escapes to find a friendly-looking woman at the bottom of the hill who lends her a phone and offers to drive her home. In a matter of seconds, the woman switches and plunges a syringe into Affi; too late for Affi to realise that she is in cahoots with the strange man who chased her on top of the hill.
I want to carry on reading this because Affi was kidnapped 3 years after being fostered by a new family in the Highlands. I want to know what the motive is for the Albanian mafia coming back to kidnap Affi.
The cover is beautiful, clearly depicting the highlands which is now Affi's home. I love sunsets on covers due to the hues of purples, oranges, and reds. Based on its cover, this is definitely a book I would take interest in whilst browsing.
