On first impressions it was a pleasant surprise to have a non-English speaking protagonist (from Albania) centred around a non-London area.
The shock of her age at the end of the prologue added a layer of concern; the threat she faces is real but perhaps foreign to some readers, luring them into a dark world of intrigue. The skipping ahead three years will perhaps set us up for a change in her character as the protagonist gets older, and the threat might still remain.
The cover does however mimic the more mainstream adult crime thriller genres so nothing that would leap out at an airport bookstand.
