Wow, this book sounds so intense. I love the premise and the writing itself is so gripping in the style. My only reservation is that I think this is one in a series, and while it would probably work as a standalone, you probably get more from it by reading those earlier books in order to build up that relationship, so I probably need to read those before preceeding. But this first impression was good enough to convince me to do just that.
