I really enjoying reading crime or police procedural novels and this latest addition to the genre really came up trumps! I thoroughly enjoyed Blood Runs Cold and I'm so pleased I got the opportunity to read an early copy.
Readers new to Neil Lancaster should know that this book is the fourth in a series and, although I have not yet read the previous books, I was still able to get thoroughly involved and submersed in the story. I do not think that anything was lost by not having read any of the previous three books.
I found this book to be very well paced and able to hold the tension throughout. The characters are great and I loved the conversations between them, they felt very authentic. The story focuses on an Albanian gang, drugs trafficking, dodgy coppers - it had the lot! There was definitely plenty to hold the reader's interest. It was evident that the author has a background in policing and his superb knowledge shone through his writing.
This is definitely a book that I would recommend to others, particularly if you enjoy gritty police drama and tense, action-packed reads.
