I borrowed this book from my local library after seeing the 'First Impressions' extract on Readers First. Although I did not receive a copy through the website, I still felt compelled to read it after the intense and intriguing opening of the book.
This is a fast-paced story that may include elements of violence that are upsetting to some readers. Personally, I did not think it was too inappropriate, but I do read a lot of books with the presence of violence.
The character development in this book is great, and at the end you even get a short story about Janie's background which was interesting too.
This book grabbed me and sustained tension and pace well throughout. Some aspects of the book were fairly predictable whilst other twists caught me unawares. Since reading this book, I have come to learn that there are previous books, since this is actually part of a series. I am inclined to go back to the first 3 books so I can see where the tale of Max and Janie began.
