This book is 100% pure dead brilliant. The characters are all distinct, full of interest, and easy to understand. The plot twists and turns constantly, trapping your attention and making it difficult to put the book down. Neil Lancaster throws exactly the right amount of detail at you, well balanced and relevant bags of colour. The story is about the vile trade in people trafficking from poor countries to provide slave labourers if male, and prostitutes if female. This is a huge multi-national and very profitable business, involving drugs and money laundering as well, on a massive scale that governments are impotent to stop. The tentacles of the criminal network encompass The Scottish police division with corruption on the inside to further complicate matters. DS Max Craigie and DC Janie Calder with various talented officers work hard to finally defeat the bad guys and save the young girl - but read this book yourself, you will not be disappointed! I have only one small criticism, the various departments of the Police, NCA, CSI, etc are just given in initials, perhaps a glossary for those of us not acquainted with these terms would be useful. However, this does not detract from this superb book.
