Highlighting the problem of youngsters trafficked to the U.K. and being used to run drugs, we are introduced to fifteen year old Albanian Afrodita. Stopped by police running drugs on a train three years ago Afrodita has now settled down following a brief rebellious phase, with foster parent and is a committed athlete. Then she goes missing and her foster parents don’t agree with local police who say that she’s most likely left of her own accord given her background and later rebellious phase.
Luckily DS Max Craigie (one of the best book detectives I’ve ever come across!) doesn’t agree with them and agrees to take the case.
Blood runs cold has given me a great introduction to a brilliant author and I can’t wait to read more by Neil Lancaster!
