From the moment I opened this book I was hooked. It takes no time at all to grab the reader's attention, with the story jumping straight in at the first page. This is the fourth book in a series of books about DS Max Craigie, though I managed to follow it perfectly well without having read the previous books, so it can work as a standalone story.

I thought this was a really good thriller that followed a range of characters very well. I particularly liked following the story of the detectives Max, Janie and Ross as they attempted to locate the corrupt police officer working among them. Whilst multiple suspects were cast as possibilities, I liked that it wasn't made too obvious who the culprit would be, and the author kept us guessing.

Having read this book, I now plan to read other books in the series as I really enjoyed the characters and story.
