“Blood Runs Cold” most certainly has an eerie tension throughout the book, each page creating a level of suspense. There are twists in this book which make you want to keep going on, this book having an almost captivating atmosphere around it. It’s most definitely a gripping read that is based on human-trafficking and flaws within the law-enforcement.

It follows along the journey of DS Max Craigie who investigates the kidnapping case of 15 year old Affi Smith. It takes on the dark twist of the possibility that there is a mole within the team. He fights a battle against time in order to get ahold of Affi’s kidnappers and to expose the mole.

There are many triggers in this book, and I’d probably advise people to be aware of the content this book contains; It’s definitely a rollercoaster of emotions! Despite the books cruel nature, it’s worth a read, each page easily drifts into the next. Every turn of the page had me on edge. Neil Lancaster certainly has a way with his words, his rhythm and flow adds a kick to the writing. I felt that the story was quite tense and gripping, tension being present throughout the book.
