Blood runs cold is a gripping thriller, it is part of a series by Neil Lancaster but can be read as a stand alone, as I had not read any of his other books and did not affect the storyline.
Affi Smith was rescued from trafficking and drug running at a young age and placed in foster care with a new identity. On her fifteenth birthday she goes for a run and never returns. DS Max Craigie joins the investigation and finds out that other trafficking victims have also disappeared in similar circumstances. He knows there must be a leak within the law enforcement.
It then becomes a race against time to catch the kidnappers and find the mole. This makes the story a right page turner that I could not put down. It goes into good detail regarding the themes of human trafficking, drug running, prostitution, foster carers and police procedures. I would recommend this book.
