A really hard hitting subject written in a great way. The subject the book is written about is heavy and dark with human trafficking and trauma shown throughout. Despite this the author handles these topics very well and the story is still fairly light and well written.

The story is gripping and thrilling and heartbreaking truths are shown. It’s written well with good para graphs and solid descriptions of the Scottish highlands that makes it feel as if the reader is there seeing the lush scenery described. The opening chapter really engages the reader and makes then feel for affi and feel involved in her story, with the contrast shown between her old life and her new life that makes the story even more heartbreaking and capturing as the characters feel real and as just want the best for them.

This book deals with themes such as human trafficking, trauma, kidnapping, adoption that some people may find upsetting but in general it’s a great read that anyone could get stuck in.
