A gritty modern thriller set in Scotland and involving Police corruption, Albanian crime gangs, people trafficking, blackmail, sleaze and deception - what's not to like!

I found this to be a real page-turner and difficult to put down and even though I didn't do very well at the 'spot the corrupt cop' game, I think a few more red-herrings added into the mix would have been good - I had the feeling at the end that the story was a little bit straight-forward and didn't grab me a much as I would have hoped.

Character-wise I found that the 'Goodies' are almost to good to be true and the 'Baddies' are almost to bad to be true. Don't upset any Albanian Crime Lords!

Knocked-off one star as I felt the dialogue could have been a lot more 'Scottish' (sorry!) and the plot could have done with a few more twists.

On the whole - I would say that I liked it a lot rather than loved it - it is a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more from Mr Lancaster.
