This is the first book I have read by this author, and was not aware of the series. It's not my favourite genre but I did enjoy reading this book in sections. As a positive, I didn't feel it was necessary to re-read and keep track of who the main characters were, so it's definitely one for anyone who can't read books continuously.
It took me a while to get into the dialogue, the accents and some of the wording were a little grating as it's not my preferred style of writing. I do get that the author is trying to illuminate a working environment and 'bad buys'.
The subject could have been really hard to stomach and off-putting but it was put over in an informative rather than entertaining and gratuitous way. Looking at the plaudits on the back cover, the author is seen in a good light for this genre, so I'm sure it will be well received by the audience it is intended for.
