Blood Runs Cold was the first book I had read by Neil Lancaster, to say I was very impressed would be an understatement.
Affi is a victim of trafficking, rescued and fostered by a Scottish family. On her 15th birthday, she goes for a run after being dropped off by her foster mum, with the agreement that she will text when she’s ready to be picked up afterwards. When no text arrives, it soon becomes clear that Affi has been abducted.
DS Max Craigie joins the investigation into Affi’s disappearance and realises that there is a leak in the investigating team.
I absolutely loved this book - whenever I was away from it I was thinking about it and wondering what was going to happen next - always a sign of a good book for me! I did wonder if it might get bogged down in detail, but while it was descriptive in police procedure, it wasn’t too detailed and didn’t become boring.
I would definitely recommend this book, I did go back and read some of the authors’ back catalogue- all thoroughly recommended too.
