As a huge, huge fan of history and historical fiction, this novel sounds extremely interesting and intriguing. Even the cover of the book displayed the genre excellently and highlighted it to me as a fan of the genre. The weaving of fact and fiction has been completed competently and its so fascinating hearing about significant and well known time periods with a personal twist on them. I didn't know that this book was a part of a series, and now I after reading this I am very intrigued to read the first book too! Despite the different time periods, I can relate and connect to the characters and they were extremely well developed. The characters seemed very real even without reading the first book in the instalment.
