I bought this for my younger cousin (who is an advanced reader for his age at 6 years old) after seeing this book advertised on Readers First. We read this together, so I could leave an honest review on this new novel. I am older than the target audience of this book, but even I enjoyed this and can certainly see the appeal for younger readers.
I feel that the language in the novel is simple enough for younger readers to be able to relate with the characters and feel as if they are adventuring along with them. Nothing is too scary throughout this novel, even the selfie zombies, so this is definitely an appropriate read for a younger demographic.
There are many themes within the novel that ring as important, including morals, differentiating between good and evil, and themes of bereavement and loss which are all valuable aspects of life for young people to have an awareness of. I would definitely recommend this book to any young readers with a passion for adventure.
My cousin gave this book a full 5 stars, and I am glad that I went ahead and bought this with the intention of reading this with him. We spent some important quality time together, and I managed to keep him off his Xbox for a couple of hours!
