If you are looking for a challenging read this book is not for you, however if you are looking for light-hearted escapism then pick up a copy.

The story of two best friends following the dreams and love of books drew me in, as it is something I wished I had done when I was younger. It is a funny recount of what it is like to be young, with many mistakes and blunders made along the way.

The diva novelist is of course an extreme depiction but one that really draws you into the character and book. I found myself wondering whether I could have coped with the endless demands and quick changing personality. I found that I could not be angry with Minnie or vent for the girls as it was such an extreme caricature of a diva novelist it was just pure amusement.

As mentioned the language isn’t challenging and I would suggest it’s more for a young adult audience but definitely not a bad read and a good way to pass a couple of hours.
