I picked up this book a few days before I went to YALC because I really wanted to go to the talk and signing that Chloe Coles was doing.
I started this book on the train journey to London, only putting it down when I got travel sick. I finished it the day after, I couldn’t stop reading it. I loved it so much. I also loved being able to have the chance to talk to Chloe about the book and her writing experience.
Paige Turner (I know best name ever!) works in Bennett’s Bookshop which is set to be closed down due to money problems. I loved Paige’s character so much! She is so determined to keep Bennett’s open, all whilst being your typical teenager. I also loved Paige’s best friend Holly, she is brilliant. Each character that Chloe has created in this book is so thought out and stands out in their own ways.
I loved reading a book about someone who works in retail. I work in retail myself and really enjoyed reading about another persons experience with customers, theft and just working in a shop in general. It is a rollercoaster ride each day and this book really shows that.
Chloe Cole’s writing is extraordinary and captivated me immediately. I cannot wait for the second book in the series to be released! I will certainly be giving it a read.
Overall, I really recommend this book to you, especially if you work in retail yourself. It is the perfect book to read on a commute or when you have a couple of hours to spare.
