Ok so I’m not the target audience. I reckon if I was 13 I’d have loved this. It’s has funny moments and excellent word play in places but it also replaces OMG with oh Emm gee! This kind of drove me crazy as did some of the language our 16 year old leads used. As a teacher I hear kids talk all the time and some of the terms used I’ve never heard kids in my area use. It was a bit like what TV thinks kids sound like.
However the book had heart and a great message about how peaceful activism is important to all generations and the written word is important to so many. Combined with a bit of nostalgia for memories of bookshops we should all shout together ‘what do we want? Books! When do we want them? forever!’
