I couldn't bring myself to even get more than a few chapters into the book. I instantly hated how the character talked. I understand it is supposed to reflect her age but I just found it really cringeworthy. I thought the premise of the book was really promising but I just couldn't click withe the writing style. I'm not saying this is a terrible book, I'm saying this wasn't for me. I think this is aimed at a very specific audience and it's transferable to anyone who isn't apart of that audience. As soon it started to mention boys, I did a big eye roll and knew it wasn't for me. I'm so used to some books having unnecessary romances and things like that and I hate that trope. I wanted this to be about a brilliant young girl saving her bookshop but I think that was lost in trying to make the character sound like a teen and boys, which isn't personally relatable for me. I just didn't connect with this book or the characters, but I will say the descriptions of the high street where familiar and accurate, that brought back memories of my teenage years.
