An open and honest account of Bruce’s first foray into the life of a vet in th UK. Part history, teaching the reader about 1970s London and big society’s dogs, part coming of age tale as Bruce starts to learn the importance of interacting with owners as well as their pets. The authors love for animals is palpable as his anger at the condition the small puppies in Harrods find themselves in. I didn’t think this book would be for me, but it seems to be the perfect mix of furry friend, social history and self reflection, a smashing first look.
