Already knowing something about the author's background I thought I'd find his memoir interesting but I found his writing style just a bit too 'wordy' - to such an extent that I even that I found myself skimming the pages! I got the impression that he was trying just that bit too hard to be humorous and I found myself becoming bored by his anecdotes. However, looking at some of the other First Impressions, it's clear that I'm in a minority so I'm sure that other readers will be delighted that I won't be entering this draw!
